The Lesson to be learnt from the US Presidential Race.

Positivity- not just in life but in campaigning too!

Positive campaigning is much more effective today than negative campaigning. People don’t want to know why they shouldn’t vote for your opponent, they want to know why they should vote for you. Proving your opponent as to being ineffective doesn’t make you effective and the worst impact negative campaigning can have is that people decide to not vote at all, and this could put you at a serious disadvantage as well as taking democracy under question.

John McCain practically shot himself in the foot through the on-going negative campaing that he undertook. Below is an example of an absolutely low-shot cleverly articulated by Arnie from the Republican side of the race. Personal remarks to your opponents physical appearance will certainly not win you votes but may even lose you votes. I’m sure this was a deliberately ridiculous speech to not make ‘McCain the next President of the US’.

Barack Obama cleverly campaigned positively telling people what they wanted to hear about- CHANGE! What’s more, he made use of negative campaigning where possible though was very careful not to place it at the heart of his campaign. Obama consistently used terms such as ‘hope’, ‘change’ and made voters associate these words with him.

I find the ‘Yes We Can’ music video so fascinating and inspiring! Of course this would appeal to the average American more.

This is something that Conservative campaigners need to consider particularly when they are faced with swing voters who want to know what the Conservatives are offering, and why they should give you their votes. The campaign team play a major role in all of this because it was McCain’s campaign team that cost him the Presidency! So Beware, be very Aware!
